2019-01-11 The Art of Mindful Communication: guided meditation 40:20
Oren Jay Sofer
Mindfulness practice provides a powerful support for clear, kind, and effective conversations. Join author and meditation teacher Oren Jay Sofer for this exploration of how our contemplative practice provides a foundation for bringing more compassion, clarity, and connection into our speech and relationships. In these polarized times, how can we speak and listen in a way that is aligned with our values? How can we hear others with divergent views? Oren will be offering teachings from his new book, Say What You Mean: A Mindful Approach to Nonviolent Communication.

2019-01-10 Integrating the Dhamma: A Monthlong Retreat in Your Daily Life 1:26:23
Kim Allen
The Dhamma is meant to be embodied, both on the cushion and in our daily lives - this makes it "onward-leading." This monthlong program will enliven our practice for the new year. The Five Spiritual Faculties serve as tools to develop our Dhamma skills, and also to evaluate and balance our practice. We will explore the Faculties through weekly meetings consisting of group practice discussion, teachings, and sutta readings. There will also be reflections to deepen and integrate our Dhamma understanding, and the support of spiritual friendship.

2019-01-09 The Nature of Metta (Lovingkindness) Practice: An Overview (Retreat at Spirit Rock) 61:27
Donald Rothberg
We explore the core intention of metta practice, to bring kindness, warmth, and care to every moment and every being. We examine how metta practice develops further steadiness (samadhi), how it helps us to lead with the heart and work with what stands in the way of the open, kind heart. As we practice further, we open increasingly to the radiance of our hearts and our being. We keep training, and we bring our metta practice into the world, where it is deeply needed. We close with two stories of metta practice in the world in challenging situations.
