| One way of viewing meditation practice is as a gradual ripening and balancing of qualities of the mind known as the seven awakening factors: mindfulness, discernment, energy, joy, tranquillity, concentration and equanimity. Qigong – the craft of working with the energy of the body as well as the mind – is an excellent support for traditional Insight Meditation practice and lends itself beautifully to the evoking of these particular qualities. Using both movement and stillness we will see how we can relate skilfully to the obstacles we encounter and develop the awakening factors - a trustworthy and onward-leading presence in our lives. Note: Qigong is traditionally done standing but exercises can also be done seated, as required. |
