The Path of Mindfulness : The Fourth Foundation

In this retreat we focus on the fourth foundation of mindfulness practice, contemplating "dhammas", which is an essential component of our practice. The Satipaṭṭhāna Sutta is a teaching which presents the four foundations of mindfulness, but the various versions of the this sutta present it differently, and the Ānāpānassati Sutta (Discourse on Mindfulness of Breathing) offers yet another explanation. This silent retreat contains an element of study, where we put these differences into perspective and try to make sense of them as practitioners. Then we transfer those understandings to our meditation practice throughout the retreat and in the perspective of applying them in our daily life.

The imperfectly perfect teacher: the Buddha's hesitation to teach, a lifelong ambivalence between blissful solitude and human engagement, the human & vs the ideal Buddha. How unconditioned can awakening really be? How perfectionistic are we? Equanimity not as flawless calm but as the ability to hold fluctuations with gentleness.
