Rob Burbea has practiced and studied Buddhism since 1985. Teaching since 2004, he is currently a Gaia House Resident Teacher and a member of its Teacher Council, as well as a Guiding Teacher of Freely Given Retreats (www.freelygivenretreats.org). He is a co-founder of Sanghaseva (www.sanghaseva.org), an organization exploring the Dharma through international service work, and also a co-initiator of DANCE, the Dharma Action Network for Climate Engagement (www.thedancewebsite.org). Rob is the author of Seeing That Frees: Meditations on Emptiness and Dependent Arising (www.seeingthatfrees.com).

A free and honest life includes the very real awareness of death. If we can find the courage to deliberately contemplate death, to keep it in mind, this can open our life in a profound way to a nobility, urgency, purposefulness and beauty. The heart grows in compassion and moves toward the Deathless.
