Arisings that occur "out there" trigger their match in the screen of our mind. In the arising of experiences—like with the experience of community life and of individual life—there is also the opportunity to experience awareness itself.
In our efforts to avoid the trap of polarities—like pleasant/unpleasant, or good/evil— we may fall into the trap of avoidance, i.e. of ignorance. The true Middle Way results from the wisdom of a well-trained mind, capable of seeing through deception whether initiated by self or by other.
This talk addresses the passing away of experiences, like that of a retreat, of a relationship, or of self. They become unproblematic when clinging ends, when the "thingness" of experience drops out.
The mind is always creating thought worlds that make us suffer. To get beyond this suffering, you have to confront the fears that force the mind to keep creating these worlds.
Awareness filling the body is the foundation of your meditation. It provides a sense of solidity throughout the interactions of life, and ultimately is the means for encountering the Deathless.
