A Path Made By Walking - Looking Back at Long-term Practice (online)
|
| Traveler, your footprints are the only road, nothing else. Traveler, there is no road; you make your own path as you walk. As you walk, you make your own road, and when you look back you see the path you will never travel again. Traveler, there is no road; only a ship’s wake on the sea.
‘Traveler, there is no road’ by Antonio Machado (translated from the Spanish by Mary G Berg and Dennis Malone)
Join Tuere Sala, a senior teacher from the USA, and Jaya Rudgard, a Gaia House Teacher Council member, for an evening of meditation, conversation and discussion about their very different journeys and how their understanding of the path of practice, and qualities it develops, has evolved over the years.
We trust this evening is helpful for those who wish for inspiration and guidance in meeting the unfolding of their own journey, providing insights into how meditation practice can mature and infuse our lives over longer periods of time.
Further practice: As part of this conversation, reference will be made to the “Five Inner Strengths”, confidence (or faith), energy, mindfulness, concentration and wisdom — as supports for long-term practice.
If you are interested in exploring how to recognise and nurture these five natural qualities of mind, Tuere and Jaya will be offering a residential retreat on this theme at Gaia House in July/August 2026. |
