This talk by Dawn Neal is the third in a speaker series titled "Eight-Fold Path of Awakening." Mindfulness is an important component of the Eightfold Path and supports the development of the other Path factors. By practicing Right Mindfulness, we can become aware of any state of mind and soften habitual reactions such as blame and inner criticism.
Tonight, at the Berkeley Buddhist Monastery, I'll be continuing the series on the Noble Eightfold Path. Last week I spoke about the first two path factors, wise view and wise intention. We'll continue this Dharma by exploring the 3rd through 5th factors, wise speech, wise action and wise lively hood. This section of the path is the cultivation of virtuous harmony and is seen as a purification of our body, speech and mind. I'll be relating this to how we interact and communicate with others. We'll do a lot of experiential practice this evening to strengthen our ability to act from a place of wisdom, connection, and harmony. I hope you'll join us!

Taking the eightfold path into the world: not causing harm with speech or action but rather bringing peace, harmony and joy into the world.
The engine of the Eightfold Path are the two factors, wise view and wise intention. As we develop wisdom is naturally expresses itself in actions and a life that is grounded in compassion.
Buddhism describes conditioned experience as being dukkha (unsatisfying/suffering) in the First Noble Truth. Yet practice leads to happiness - how does this paradox resolve? This talk describes how happiness arises in/through the Eightfold Path of practice.
