Retreat Dharma Talks

The Family Retreat

Find joy in a retreat for the whole family and take the time together to rest, reconnect, play, and enjoy! This is a four-night residential retreat for adults and their children ages 7-15 years old. The days will combine age-appropriate meditation and Dharma teachings, games, arts and crafts, nature time, and more. Kids and teens will have organized time each day to be with same-age peers, fully supervised by our outstanding mindful leaders. Adults will also have their own time to practice, relax, and receive Dharma from the teachers.

The family retreat creates a safe and nurturing environment where all family constellations, races, gender identities, and bodies are welcome and belong. Children and adults from participant families often forge lifelong friendships on this retreat.

Cara Lai
Choosing to be a householder and not a renunciate can be it's own deep path of practice. Chaos, emotional turmoil, lots to do, many to care for: these things don't have to be obstacles, but could actually be important benefits on a path to awakening. The path of the householder accelerates us towards patience, flexibility, compassion, and love.
2026-08-01 Joy in our Lives, our Families, and in the World (Retreat at Spirit Rock) 69:31
Diana Winston
This talk from the Spirit Rock Family Retreat explores what joy is, what gets in the way of joy, and how to cultivate it: intend, savor, and recall. We also focus on how mudita or appreciative joy shows up and can be called upon to help us with tricky family situations such as comparison or disappointment. Joy is accessible to us all!
