The Power of Generosity
56:47
James Baraz
James is joined by Phil Catalfo, who runs the Berkeley Neighborhood Food Project, for a rich discussion about the power of generosity. Giving not only benefits the recipient but the giver as well. While BNFP alleviates the suffering of those who are “food insecure;” it also alleviates the suffering of the donors by providing them a means to process their feelings, thoughts, and memories about food, hunger, abundance, guilt, and so on. Participants report a vastly expanded sense of themselves and become profoundly grateful for the opportunity to experience that. They see that “everybody wins” is an actual option in this world. The Unfolding of Metta Practice
56:31
Donald Rothberg
Weaving in the views and voice of Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. on his birthday with the teachings of the Buddha on metta, and with observations of how metta practice develops, we explore the spirit of metta practice and themes of living from the awakened heart; developing concentration, purifying and eventually unifying mind, heart and body and opening to our radiant depths, we bring metta to the world.

Fundamentals of the Dharma: Embodied Action
45:09
Rodney Smith
Insights remain a dormant potential but not a formative actuality until they are put into action. Action validates the insight and establishes our intention to move in line with its truth. Action overcomes doubt and aligns our cognitive system with our spiritual transformation. It is the essential component for moving our spiritual journey forward. Too often our insights get lost within our conditioned habits and are never brought into the light of day, and therefore never fully position our mental and physical systems to the Dharma.
