This series delves deeply into all aspects of death and presents ways to use the subject as a guide for our spiritual practice. (Two tapes - four talks)
This talk spotlights things we experience during integration at the end of retreat and considers how to use re-entry well. Because of an enhanced sensitivity we are keenly aware of our usual mode of interacting, the impulsiveness of our actions, the impact of our speech. We also see our innate goodness with greater clarity. We need to feel the impact of all of this so that we reap the greatest benefit. Exhale retreat; inhale the rest of our lives. And try not to judge our practice.
This talk has to do with understanding how metta practice develops concentration. Metta practice also sometimes exposes challenging states of mind that we learn to be more mindful of within the safe and gentle container of LovingKindness.
There is a certain kind of energy required to actually do the sitting/walking schedule of an intensive retreat, which we learn how to cultivate. We also can learn how to relax our energy around our
moment-to-moment experience, which produces a great balance in our practice.
