Different ways of presenting Dhamma in Theravada Buddhism (single-pointed, ‘dry insight’; Thai forest). Are there certain thought patterns that are related to nervous energy in the body? How do you do discharge? Metta practice as cultivating non-aversive, non-contractive state rather than a doing/sending out. Clarifying the term ‘fields’. Qi Gong questions (is it normal to get so hot while practicing Qi Gong? Is it good to use wu qi for standing meditation?); Responding to sexual awareness in the presence of others. Skillfully handling trauma that are still alive. Distinction between perception and consciousness. How feelings and emotions are experienced in Samadhi. Reclining meditation

Exploring how Metta is empty: How it transforms into compassion, joy, or equanimity depending on the contact. How the very expression depends on other factors: compassion is not one type of action. And how we can expand our sense of who we can radiate these infinite qualities to. And then how that also contributes to a clear view of the fabrication of not-self elements into a sense of self.

Exploring metta in what we do, the way we do it, and the atmosphere we attune with, for the relief of dukkha borne of craving. Opening out the Gosinga Forest sutta’s (MN:31) description of three types of metta activity: bodily fabrication (physical activity and the energy body), verbal-thinking (two sorts of thinking: metta and not metta), and mental fabrication (intention, perception, attention).

One definition of the word Dharma is Natural law. Trees hold a very special place in the Buddha’s teaching.. The Buddha was born under a tree, enlightened under a tree and died under a tree. He told his disciples to find “roots of trees” to sit and meditate. Trees are the perfect environment to practice in the Thai Forest Tradition. Metta practice was taught by the Buddha in response to actions of “Tree spirits”. We’ll explore the special significance of trees and Nature in the Buddha’s teaching.
