Exploring meeting the hindrances in skilful ways. Firstly seeing them as wonderful opportunities for growth and development of heart. Secondly not taking them personally, not fully believing what they say (shape) about the world. And thirdly finding skilful means through mettā, insight, and samādhi practices to find well-being in the midst of the entanglement of dukkha.

Drawing the hindrances towards samadhi. Exploring how we can find ways to ease greed and aversion by relating to them as energy, rather than as content and story. Based around the insight that all obstacles to practice arise in our ways of relating. And remembering there is always a possibility for another way of relating, leads us towards the liberation of possibilities.

Equanimity: This practice is explored as the heart's expression of deep wisdom. We don't have to wait to cultivate this practice since it can be experienced at any point and strengthens over time. Getting caught in the weeds of life, equanimity is the mind and heart gaining perspective as an inner voice that is like a wise elder offering advice and caring. This talk explores the hindrances and 8 worldly winds. Q & A included.

Hindrances in Daily Life or Deep Meditation

Hindrances appear in daily life, on the 'cushion', and right into deep experiences: if there is an appearance there must be a hindrance in someway, pushing and pulling at life. How can we be approariate to what arises? Joyfully breaking the (so called) hindrances into 5, or 3, or just 1, is a way of looking at these fabricated experiences, that helps us approach them with skill, flexibility, and freedom, no matter where they arise.

Satipatthana - Four Foundations of Mindfulness offers us specific meditation practices with the body, breath, in four postures, in all activities, with the elements, with death, vedana, the heart/mind and the dharmas including hindrances and the seven factors of awakenings. Each of these practices includes a through line: One abides independent, not clinging to anything in the world. The not clinging to body, heart, mind or any experience is both the foundation of the Buddha's teaching and the doorway to freedom. It's the experience of coming into alignment with ' he way things are.'
