2021-01-10 Opening out of Reactivity 50:36
Ajahn Sucitto
We are encouraged to investigate the region of feeling, perception and reaction. By creating space before the reactivity, citta has the choice to go down the same path of agitation or settle back into itself. Develop citta’s capacity for this through seasoning the heart to be contented in itself.
Cittaviveka Awakening Through Heart, Cittaviveka Winter Retreat 2021

2021-01-09 Beyond the Present Moment 64:07
Nathan Glyde
Being present is an essential component of the Dharma path. It feels good to bring body, heart, mind, attention, consciousness, all together in the present moment. But being present is not the goal of the Dharma. (Guided meditation and Dharma reflection from Gaia House's Online Dharma Hall)

2021-01-09 The Real World Begins in the Heart 44:01
Ajahn Sucitto
When we step back from the sense fields, citta can become steadied on itself. Clear meaning can come from this place of rest and ease. Then we can steer through input of the sense sphere, discern the meanings, and notice the effects in the heart and body. This is practice.
Cittaviveka Awakening Through Heart, Cittaviveka Winter Retreat 2021

2021-01-09 Guided Meditation – Sensitivity in Embodiment 58:30
Ajahn Sucitto
The ability to sense and feel, read how citta is affecting body and body is affecting it – this is initiation into the process. Use the language of touch rather than seeing. Our fundamental base to support this process is the wide-open body. It contains all of the kammic stuff we need to work through.

2021-01-08 Contact that Is a Release from Contact 43:20
Ajahn Sucitto
Liberation by wisdom comes from a healthy citta having resources to experience the range of contact and its effects. The gentle fluidity of practices like breathing and walking help soothe the agitation and fixity of contact so we can be with the feeling rather than in it. Then it can move, release, empty, cease.

2021-01-07 Unbind and Protect the Heart 42:33
Ajahn Sucitto
Citta’s receptive quality is both its vulnerability and strength. It has to be protected until it is strong enough to repel corrupting influences. Cultivate themes and meanings that unbind and strengthen the heart – Buddha, precepts, lovingkindness. Citta then has a place to withdraw to.
Cittaviveka Awakening Through Heart, Cittaviveka Winter Retreat 2021

2021-01-06 The Three Refuges – Gateways to Awakening 1:10:26
Tara Brach
We all seek refuge, a sense of safety or homecoming amidst the uncertainties of life. Our way of finding refuge can either imprison or free us. This talk explores the false refuges that entrap us in feeling separate and endangered, and the refuges of Awareness (Buddha,) Truth (Dharma) and Love (Sangha) that reveal our true nature. This evening gathering includes a ceremony with candles, reflection and music.

2021-01-06 Meditation: A Present Heart 18:32
Tara Brach
One translation of mindfulness, in Chinese, is “present heart.” In this guided meditation we begin by awakening through the body and the senses, and then open the attention to the changing flow of experience. The intention is to meet whatever arises with a wakeful and kind presence.

2021-01-06 32 Parts of the Body—Lungs, Spleen, Diaphragm, Liver, Heart, Kidneys, Bone Marrow, Bones, Sinews, Flesh, Skin, Teeth, Nails, Body Hair, Head Hair 44:28
Bob Stahl
We are happy to announce a special opportunity to practice the 32 Parts of the Body meditation, which is rarely taught in the West. This practice deepens insight into impermanence and non-self by penetrating into the true nature and wonders of the body. We will also explore how the body interrelates with the four primary elements of earth (solidity), air (motion), fire (temperature), and water (liquidity). This methodical practice of the 32 Parts of the Body Meditation can build immense levels of concentration, potentialities for healing, and experience the taste of deep freedom and peace. This is the 15th year of offering this class at Insight Santa Cruz and it has been truly wonderful. People have frequently reported developing a whole new relationship to their bodies with greater wisdom and compassion. We will also be hopefully doing a tour of the Cabrillo Anatomy lab to get a deeper experience of the body.

2021-01-06 Guided Meditation - The Inner Experience of Body 53:17
Ajahn Sucitto
What is directly here? It’s not the anatomy of the body with its individual parts. Using body and breathing as a base, tune into the inner experience of body. There’s energy there – living, vital, sensitive. Keep turning towards the calm and bright places in the heart and body.

2021-01-06 Practicing with Intentions 1: Individual Formal and Daily Life Practice 1:11:08
Donald Rothberg
At this time of transition, for the earth in the Northern Hemisphere, for many of us in the New Year, and for the U.S., in which clarity of intentions is so important, we explore two types of intentions: (1) aspiration or being guided by one's deeper values and intentions, sometimes taking the form of vows; and (2) moment-to-moment intentions. We are especially interested in connecting the two types of intentions. A focus on moment-to-moment intentions (cetana) helps us with wise action and practice moment-to-moment, seeing which intentions are skillful and which are not (including implicit or even unconscious tendencies linked with habitual energies). We look a number of ways of practicing with intentions both in our formal and our informal practice. We close with a short writing exercise bringing out our core intentions and next steps for the coming period, and then have a period of discussion and sharing.

2021-01-03 The Value of Death 25:53
Ayya Medhanandi
This path takes us to our true home through cultivating sanctity, and understanding the value of death: the death of greed, hatred and delusion. When we see all things as impermanent, death gives definition to our life. It delimits our experience. That’s how we learn how to love – because if things were permanent, we wouldn’t know the meaning of love. We would not know how to love. And that would be a terrible loss – not to know, not to learn, how to love.
Portland Friends of the Dhamma :  Ever Present Refuge

2021-01-03 The Nimitta of Suffering 31:53
Ayya Medhanandi
When we’re out of balance, it's due to the worldly winds. Even if you call them Dhamma winds, they end up being worldly - as soon as we grasp them, we’re back in samsara and we’re circling. The ending of circling always begins within us. It doesn’t end out there. Even if the balance of Dhamma out there is perfect, that moment of perfection is impermanent. Once we truly see what we could not see before, balance is restored.

2021-01-03 The Basis for Our Happiness 4:41
Ayya Medhanandi
Take refuge and commit to ethical precepts to deepen the purification of virtue within us. This is the basis for true happiness. We take refuge in enlightened wisdom, and in our ability to awaken. We have faith that we can realize that Truth by ourselves – in this life; and we trust in this timeless teaching, worthy of our effort, worthy of our attention, worthy of our faith, and worthy of our refuge.

Fundamental to our experience is where our attention lands.
